Welcome to Mountain Park Elementary! We hope you are settling in and finding your way around. Please don’t hesitate to contact Elysa Greenwald, our New Families Chairperson, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We have many opportunities for you to get involved at Mountain Park. Here is a list of all the different events and groups and a brief description of each. If you’d like to learn more, please contact the committee chair in the list linked under communications.
BIRTHDAY BOOK CLUB - Celebrate your child’s special day by donating a book to the school library.
BOOK FAIR - We have 2 Book Fairs at MPE. One in the Spring and one in the Fall. They are hosted by Scholastic and they provide an opportunity for the kids to look at and buy some of the newest and most popular books Scholastic offers. There are 2 different ways to volunteer. You can join the awesome book fair committee and help plan, set up and sell the books; or you can simply volunteer for a 2-hour shift on one of the selling days and work the cash register as the kids purchase their books. Volunteers receive 10% off any of their purchases during the fair as a way to say "thank you"! It's a super fun way to get involved at MPE and get to know other parents and the teachers and staff.
DADS CLUB - MPE loves our dads! Dad's Club is a great way for all you dads out there to get involved at MPE. It involves being on an email distribution list and you can volunteer at your convenience for odds and ends jobs around the school ranging from heavy lifting to helping out with carpool and lunchroom shifts throughout the school year.
DONUTS FOR DADS AND DEAR ONES - This event is held in the spring and gives dads and other loved ones a chance to visit your child’s classroom and enjoy breakfast too!
DRAMA CLUB - This is a schoolwide club that puts on a fabulous, multi-night musical drama performance at the Milton Center in February.
FALL FAMILY NIGHT - Enjoy a fun night in the fall with bounce houses, games, and yummy food for everyone!
FIELD DAY - This event is held in May and allows the whole school to participate in fun outdoor games and activities. Volunteers are always needed to help coordinate events!
FIFTH GRADE FAREWELL - This event celebrates our fifth grade class and includes a breakfast, video slideshow, dance, ice cream party and lots of other fun activities!
FIFTH GRADE FLOAT - The fifth graders and their parents meet on Fridays in early fall to prepare a float for the Roswell Youth Day Parade held in October.
GRANDPARENTS DAY -This is a lunch event for grandparents and other "grand ones" to come have lunch with their favorite MPE student. This occurs around Thanksgiving and is a great chance for all family members to become involved and see what is going on with MPE. (It's also a great chance for families to sneak-a-peek at the Holiday Extravaganza!)
HOLIDAY EXTRAVAGANZA – This is an exciting MPE PTA sponsored fundraiser that benefits our school. This is the biggest fundraiser for MPE all year; It is a fun-filled Saturday with many activities to interest the entire family. You will find gift shopping, theme baskets for raffle, baked goods, food, entertainment, and door prizes galore! How can you help? Donate money or items to your class basket, volunteer your time, donate baked goods for the Sweet Shoppe, buy raffle tickets for the chance to win a basket, visit & shop at the Holiday Marketplace, plan on attending, and help spread the word about this fun event!
FACILITY ENHANCEMENT - This committee helps to fix up/beautify the school. The group organizes volunteers for various projects including wall painting, artwork throughout the school, and changing out the front entry displays during the school year for each season.
MOVIE NIGHT - Enjoy a family movie night under the stars. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs and enjoy a kid friendly movie on a big screen on the MPE field.
MUSTANG FLYER - A weekly newsletter that appears in parents' e-mail inboxes on Thursdays. It includes a note from the principal, school news, event information, PTA news, student achievement announcements, and community items of interest to MPE families.
OPEN HOUSE – This event is held shortly after school starts in August and allows parents the opportunity to meet their child’s teacher and learn more about the curriculum for the year.
RECYCLING COMMITTEE – Organizes and facilitates all recycling at Mtn. Park.
REFLECTIONS – A National PTA program that allows children the opportunity to submit their various artistic talents for judging and awards.
SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL – Come join us for three Walk to School days in May! Students within close proximity to the school walk or ride their bikes to school on these days. Small prizes are given to those who walk or ride.
SILLY STORY LADIES- The Silly Story Ladies visit kindergarten classrooms as well as all special needs classrooms. We read a book by the author of the month and discuss interesting facts about the author. We engage the children in appropriate academic discussions focusing on critical thinking/ higher order skills. We accomplish all of this while we are dressed up as characters in the book.
SPIRIT WEAR - We love MPE and we want to show it! This committee sells t-shirts, sweatshirts and other spirit wear for Mtn. Park. Volunteers are often needed to help sell at various school events.
SPRING FLING – We celebrate the end of the school year at the annual Spring Fling. Held approximately the first Friday evening of May, the MPE field is filled with food fun and entertainment for the whole family. Wristbands are purchased in advance and cover all jumps, inflatables, entertainment, petting zoo and pony rides. Food is available for purchase from vendors, cash only.
STAFF APPRECIATION – This fabulous committee leads the way for events that give thanks to the teachers and staff on behalf of MPE families. The committee coordinates monthly luncheons and Staff Appreciation Week. To get involved, sign up for the monthly luncheons, watch for Staff Appreciation Week information, or contact the PTA VP of Volunteers to join the committee.
YEARBOOK – Our committee of volunteers produces a yearbook for the school. We’d love to have your photos of special events or just everyday classroom learning fun!
